At BCG, when we apply our consultants’ core skills to non-profit organizations, we have a tremendous impact in key areas such as health, education, and the environment. BCG consultants help these organizations develop clear strategies and organize resources in the optimal way to achieve strategic targets.

My social impact secondment with the Global Health Initiative of the World Economic Forum was a dream come true. Organizing the Forum’s malaria control activities and representing the private sector in the global Roll Back Malaria organization has been highly rewarding for me because I was not an external consultant giving advice, but instead an active part of the execution team.

I joined BCG because I wanted to learn about what makes a business tick.

I have a chemical engineering background, and therefore was not surprised that I was put to work on several energy cases. In less than two years, however, I was able to diversify the business sectors I worked in and ventured into the automotive industry, consumer finance, beverages, manufacturing, online services, telecommunications, and biosciences. My lack of a business background has never been a constraint.

BCG has a collegial atmosphere. Partners halfway around the world are happy to share their insights. This makes it a fantastic place to enable anyone to keep on learning.

Tomtor has a PhD in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a BS with distinction from Stanford University.

She joined BCG in Bangkok in 2006 and is a member of the local training and recruiting teams.

For me, BCG provides unparalleled opportunities to have a real impact on the world. For example, I recently designed an analytical tool that a client will use to expand its branded retail stores globally. The idea that my work is helping guide the decisions of a company whose products are used by one out of every two or three people in the world is tremendously exciting, but also humbling.

The team environment is also fantastic—I am constantly stretched intellectually by like-minded teammates in an open, supportive environment. Going to work is something to look forward to every day.

Eugene holds an MS in economics for development and a BA in politics, philosophy, and economics from Oxford University.

Before joining BCG’s Singapore office in 2005, he spent three years in the Singapore Civil Service.

I studied chemical engineering, and realized after I completed my degree that I wanted to broaden my horizons. Instead of working for one type of company I wanted to work in many, and to take on a variety of roles. At BCG I found what I was looking for. In the first three years I worked on 15 different projects in a variety of industries. After this, it was time for a new adventure. BCG gave me the opportunity to pursue an MBA, which I jumped at.

During the MBA my wife and son joined me for a year in Singapore. Here my wife continued her career as an engineering manager for an oil company, while I studied. Barely a year after completing the MBA, we wanted to move back to Singapore. Again, BCG helped by arranging a transfer.

Wouter holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.

Wouter joined BCG's Amsterdam office in 2003 and transferred to the Singapore office in 2008.

I joined BCG in New York, got married at the end of my first year, and decided to move to Atlanta to be in the same office as my husband. BCG enabled the transfer in only a few weeks. Then, when my husband and I decided we wanted a deeper understanding of developing markets, BCG was quick to support our transfers to Singapore—where our first child was born in 2009.We have been working throughout Southeast Asia since 2008.

Each BCG office has provided a great new learning experience, but the BCG culture and commitment to individual personal growth are the same everywhere. 

Sue holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, was a Rotary International ambassadorial scholar, and has a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa.

Prior to joining BCG, she spent over six years at Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks.
