At BCG I am constantly faced with new problems, industries, clients, and teams. Just when I think I’ve mastered my role, a new challenge comes along. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else and it is a non-stop learning opportunity.

One of my most memorable learning experiences was as a BCG Ambassadorship to the Amsterdam office. I worked in a different cultural context and lived independently in a foreign country. I also experienced the diversity that Europe offers from a well-positioned Dutch base.

Ching Fong joined the BCG Kuala Lumpur office in 2000, after some time with another consulting company.

He has a bachelor of commerce (accounting and information systems) from the University of New South Wales (Sydney), and is a certified practicing accountant (CPA Australia).

During my two years in BCG’s Paris office, my biggest challenge was working in a truly international environment, one that took me out of my comfort zone.

This experience helped me improve my communication skills in terms of understanding the fundamental differences in ways of thinking between European cultures and my own. I learned how to read between the lines. This greatly enhanced my ability to create value for clients. I found that I could serve as a very effective interface between a client’s European and Japanese holding. The time I spent in Paris also helped me grow professionally back in Japan. Because of my strengthened network within BCG, I can more readily draw on talents and areas of expertise among colleagues. In short, the benefits have been wide-ranging.

Ryoji Kimura joined BCG in 2002 and is a member of the Organization and Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice areas.

Before BCG, he worked as a loan officer at Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund.

Ryoji holds a BA in economics from Kyoto University and an MBA and a specialized master’s degree in international risk management from HEC School of Management, Paris.
