By now you will probably have heard just about all the advice there is on preparing for case interviews. However, having been through the process ourselves, we would like to remind you of a few things: We are not trying to torment you (really). We want to see if you will enjoy this type of work and how well you are likely to perform in case situations. We do not expect an extensive business background; knowing the 'jargon' and producing a template answer will win far fewer points than showing us you understand the problem and can logically structure your ideas. We are not looking for 'the answer'. We want to see how you approach the problem. Are you a creative and conceptual thinker? Do you have poise and enthusiasm? Are you analytical and able to dive deep into the detail, while keeping the 'big picture' in mind? Click here for some tips to interview preparation. If you're the sort of person who feels more comfortable if you're prepared, try completing a few problem-solving exercises or doing some mock interviews with friends or career counsellors. The practice cases on our global site are another good place to start. In addition, it's always useful to read publications like the Asian Wall Street Journal or The Economist and really think about the issues they discuss. Finally, here's our best advice: relax, be positive and don't be intimidated. We have all been through this process and, believe it or not, many of us really enjoyed it. We came out of the interviews more convinced than ever that we wanted a consulting career at BCG.
