Bernd joined BCG's Düsseldorf office in 1990, and from 1992 to 1994 led the recruiting effort for three of BCG's German offices. In 1995, he moved with his family to Indonesia, where rapid changes in the political and economic environment have led to some remarkable experiences. In particular, he found it rewarding to help clients cope with the immediate challenges of the recent boom and bust, and continues to help them deal with the longer-term effects. At the beginning of 2001 he took over the leadership role for the BCG SEA system. Bernd has worked in a wide range of industries across Europe and Asia, including oil and gas, financial services, consumer electronics, snack foods, telecommunications, building materials, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. As a member of BCG's Corporate Development practice, he has managed two post-merger integration projects for two leading global companies in Asia. Bernd has also been involved in numerous strategy related assignments for domestic, regional and multinational clients, and has carried out many corporate restructurings and process improvements. Bernd received an MBA ("Dipl. Kfm.") with Distinction and a PhD in economics from Westfaelische Wilhelms-University Münster, Germany. Away from the office, he enjoys exploring Asian culture, playing sports, and especially, the entertainment provided by his three young kids. |
