Technology and Communication project




A large Southeast Asian consumer goods company was interested in spinning off its internal IT department to form an IT services company. BCG was called in to identify the market opportunity and understand the business case for the spin-off.

As part of our evaluation, we assessed the size of the market, identified preliminary target customer segments and built a business model for the new company. Based on our recommendations the client decided to go ahead with the spin-off. Subsequently our role was extended to help the client actually implement the spin-off. We developed a detailed implementation plan and worked, almost as part of the client organisation, in giving birth to the new company.
